Porto Cristo on the east coast of Majorca

In our inspiration blog, we let our guests have their say. They share their vacation experiences and offer firsthand tips on activities and interesting excursions at their destination.
We needed a getaway, and we wanted something exclusive. We quickly found what we were looking for on casapilot and chose a holiday home in Majorca. We couldn't have imagined what awaited us here.
Our arrival in Porto Cristo
Even the journey to Porto Cristo is a pleasure. After landing in Palma, we pick up our rental car – an elegant convertible, perfect for the picturesque streets of Mallorca. The drive along the coast takes us past olive groves and small villages as the sun slowly sinks over the horizon.
Porto Cristo welcomes us with its quiet charm. The promenade along the harbor is lined with elegant cafés and small boutiques. We sit down on the terrace of the SUR Beach Bar, a bar with a sea view, and enjoy a fresh orange juice while the sailboats gently rock in the breeze. Later, we stroll through the narrow streets, discover hidden courtyards, and let ourselves drift. It feels like we're in another world.

Magical worlds in the stalactite cave
The next morning, we set off for the famous "Cuevas del Drach" or dragon caves. As soon as we enter the stalactite caves, we are enveloped by a cool, mysterious atmosphere. The air is humid, the light dim, and every corner seems to tell a story.
We descend deeper and finally reach the subterranean Lake Martel. Suddenly, gentle classical melodies sound, played by musicians on a boat gliding slowly over the still waters. The acoustics in the cave make the experience even more intense—it is a magical moment that we enjoy in silence. After the boat ride, we emerge back into the daylight and take a moment to process what we have experienced.

A perfect day at the beach of Cala Mesquida
After the impressive cave experience, we head to the sea. The drive to Cala Mesquida takes us through a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and dense pine forests. Upon arrival, we are greeted by a picture-perfect view: a wide sandy beach surrounded by dune-like hills and crystal-clear water.
We find a quiet spot, spread out our towels, and let the sun warm us. While cooling off in the sea, we feel the gentle play of the waves and feel completely free. In the afternoon, we order a light lunch at the small beach bar – fresh seafood and a glass of ice-cold white wine. The perfect moment to simply enjoy.

Tapas dinner: A journey for the senses
In the evening, a culinary highlight is on the agenda: a tapas dinner in Artà, at the Vermuteria by Baudot 1926. We've reserved a table at a charming restaurant known for its authentic cuisine. The table quickly fills with small bowls: crispy patatas bravas with spicy aioli, tender slices of jamón, marinated olives, and grilled shrimp.

We sample the different flavors while enjoying the lively atmosphere. The proprietor recommends a local red wine that pairs perfectly with the food. As the sun sets and bathes the alleys of Artà in warm light, we lean back and smile at each other. Here, in this moment, we know: This is the true taste of Mallorca.
